Seagull Innovation Studio develops and operates HackSpace as an independent platform for organizations, innovation teams, educational institutions, communities, agencies and professional organizers running hackathons and innovation programs.

Depending on how you use HackSpace, Seagull Innovation Studio may act either as a data controller or as a data processor.
When we collect information directly from you to operate HackSpace, manage accounts, provide support, maintain security or improve our services, Seagull Innovation Studio generally acts as the data controller.
When an organization or event organizer uses HackSpace to manage an event and determines what participant information should be collected and how it should be used, that organization generally acts as the data controller, while Seagull Innovation Studio, through HackSpace, processes that information on its behalf.
The information processed through HackSpace depends on your role and on how an organizer configures a particular event.
We may process information such as your name, email address, organization, professional role, profile information and account credentials.
For hackathon participants, additional information may include registration information, team membership, areas of interest, skills, preferences, challenge selections, project information, submissions, files and other information provided during the event.
For mentors and judges, information may include professional expertise, assigned teams or projects, availability, evaluations, scores, comments and feedback.
For organizers and administrators, we may process account information, event configuration, activity logs and information related to the management of events and users.
We may also automatically collect certain technical information when you use HackSpace, including IP address, device and browser information, login information, timestamps, system activity and diagnostic information.
The exact information collected for a particular hackathon may be determined by the organization running that event.
HackSpace is a collaborative platform and users may create or upload content as part of their participation.
This may include project descriptions, presentations, documents, images, prototypes, links, team information, mentor feedback, judging information and other materials related to an event.
The organization running the event determines who may access this information and how it may be used within the context of that event.
Users should not upload personal, confidential or sensitive information unless it is necessary for the event and they are authorized to provide it.
We use personal information where necessary to operate and provide HackSpace and to support the events managed through the platform.
This may include creating and managing accounts, registering users for events, managing participants and teams, connecting mentors and teams, managing projects and submissions, supporting judging processes, sending operational communications, providing customer support, maintaining platform security and preventing misuse.
We may also use information to understand how HackSpace is used, diagnose technical problems, improve functionality and develop new capabilities.

We may share information with trusted service providers that help us operate HackSpace, such as cloud hosting providers, database providers, authentication services, email and communication providers, analytics services, security services and customer support tools.
These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to us and are subject to appropriate contractual and data protection obligations.
Information may also be shared with the organization running the relevant event and, depending on the event configuration, with other participants, team members, mentors, judges or administrators.
We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process or a valid request from a competent authority, or where necessary to protect the security, rights or integrity of HackSpace, our users or others.
HackSpace may use technology and service providers located in different countries.
